Public notice for the selection of thematic dossiers

The journal Terceira Milênio: Revista Crítica de Sociologia e Política (ISSN: 2318-373X), run by the Graduate Program in Political Sociology at the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF) in partnership with the Darcy Ribeiro Foundation (FUNDAR ), launches this call for selection of thematic dossiers for the next two volumes. Proposals can be submitted until May 15, 2022 by emailing milniorcsp@gmail.com .

1 – Description of the journal

Third Millennium: Critical Journal of Sociology and Politics is a joint publication of the Graduate Program in Political Sociology (PPGSP) of the State University of Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF) and the Darcy Ribeiro Foundation (FUNDAR). In the restructuring phase, its periodicity, which was half-yearly, becomes four-monthly.

The journal accepts articles written in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Its objective is to address current and emerging themes in sociology and politics in a pluralistic way. The journal accepts original research articles, review articles, case studies and on innovative methodologies. In addition, it is open for publication of book reviews and interviews.

The submitted articles are analyzed by anonymous referees, who are also unaware of the authorship of the works under their analysis.

2 – Guidelines for proposals

a) Each dossier can be proposed by a maximum of three organizers, necessarily holders of a doctorate;

b) Candidates' training area should preferably be Sociology or Political Science, admitting, however, other training in the areas of Human and Social Sciences;

c) Preferably, the candidates, within each proposal, must be from different teaching or research institutions.

3 - Formatting of thematic proposals

a) Proposals for dossiers must be sent to the e-mail address milniorcsp@gmail.com, in a message with the title “Proposal for a dossier for the Third Millennium”.

b) The text must contain the title of the dossier and an argument as to its relevance and up-to-dateness with up to 3 thousand characters with spaces;

c) Insert names, institutional affiliations and mini-curriculum of up to 900 characters for each applicant, including links to the respective CVs published on CNPq's Lattes platform; It is

d) Indicate the name of the researcher to be interviewed.

4 – Selection

The selection of proposals will be the responsibility of the Editorial Coordination of the magazine Terceira Milênio, which will take into account the following criteria:

a) Pertinence to the general scope of the journal;

b) Timeliness, originality and relevance of the topic;

c) Evaluation of the candidates' curriculum.

5 – Procedures after selection

a) Each dossier will consist of four to eight articles — with depth and cohesion strictly related to the theme presented —, which must comply with the parameters described in the “Guidelines for Authors” section;

b) The reviews must refer to works of reference on the subject of the dossier, preferably published in the last three years;

c) The interviews must be granted by a researcher of reference in the area of the dossier;

d) All articles will be submitted to blind peer review, following the examination criteria established by the journal;

e) The organizers will be responsible for preparing the presentation text of the issue's thematic section, which will mention the contents of the dossier;

6) Schedule

The result of the evaluation will be released until the 15/06/22.

After the publication of the results, those responsible for the selected dossiers undertake to observe the following deadlines:

Volume 19 (2nd quarter of 2022)

Call: 6/30/22 to 7/31/22

Publication: until 08/31/22

Volume 20 (3rd quarter of 2022)

Call: 06/30/22 to 11/15/22

Publication: until 12/31/22.
